SCSR - DEZEGA CARBO 30
The DEZEGA CARBO 30 is a portable SCSR (self-contained self-rescuer) designed for everyday carry and short evacuations.
Quickly proving itself as a leading self-rescuer on the market, this European and Australian certified unit has been designed with user working conditions in mind. Great attention has been paid to ergonomic factors, with the device able to be worn on the shoulder, on the waist or in a pouch. In addition, the CARBO 30 is the lightest 30 minute self-rescuer in the DEZEGA range.
The hip-shaped ergonomic design allows for maximum comfort while wearing the device for extended periods of time. Why not offer your personnel this safety redundancy?
The DEZEGA CARBO 30 is a closed-circuit 30 minute breathing apparatus, designed for everyday carry or in storage at changeover stations along escape routes. The self-rescuer can be worn on the waist with or without a pouch or with shoulder straps. In case of an emergency, the total donning time for the CARBO 30 is just 15 seconds.
The starter activates automatically once the self-rescuer lock lever is opened. Oxygen fills the breathing bag and allows the user to begin breathing in the first few seconds after activation.
Exhaled gas passes through the mouthpiece, heat & moisture exchanger and breathing tube into the regenerative cartridge. Here, the exhaled gas is purified from carbon dioxide and enriched with oxygen before moving into the breathing bag. Once the bag is completely filled, any extra gas is released via the relief valve.

Designed specifically for underground mining, the CARBO 30 SCSR is housed in an anti-deformation, ruggedised casing. This ensures the life-saving equipment is kept free from damage, particularly in mines with highly abrasive surfaces and narrow passageways.
Nominal rated duration in accordance with EN13794:2002 and AS/NZS 1716:2012 – Escape (35 l/min) – Waiting for rescue (10 l/min) | 30 min 90 min |
Temperature of inhaled gas | 50˚C |
Maximum breathing resistance | 1,0 kPa |
Average CO2 content | 3% |
Weight carried | 2.4 kg |
Shelf life | 10 years |
The optional moisture indicator is a transparent capsule with hydrophobic material, installed in the self-rescuer casing on the top of the unit.
A BLUE colour indicates that the SCSR is in normal working condition. If one or both moisture indicators are PINK, the CARBO 30 self-rescuer must be immediately checked on a leak testing device. Regular visual inspection of the moisture indicator (if installed) allows the user to monitor the self-rescuer
operating conditions without any additional and special equipment needed. The CARBOFit-400 is a testing device to control the tightness of the CARBO SCSRs.
Behaviour in an emergency is difficult to predict. Human instincts are sometimes counter-intuitive. The best way to maximise chance of survival is training personnel in how to don and breathe in a self-contained self-rescuer in order to develop learned behaviour.
The DEZEGA training SCSR allows personnel to practice the donning procedure and experience breathing conditions until the process becomes second nature. This greatly reduces the risk of failure to don an SCSR and efficiently escaping from irrespirable environments.
- Exactly replicates the particularities of donning the DEZEGA CARBO 30
- Reusable case
- Replaceable breathing hoses and mouthpieces are available, allowing multiple personnel to train on the same unit
The CARBOFit-400 is a SCSR testing device that can be utilised to ensure that the case has no critical damage and the unit is in working condition. This device should be used for regular inspections, as well as in the case of a moisture indicator turning white or pink. The CARBOFit-400 can be utilized with all Dezega SCSRs.
Sites can purchase their own SCSR testing device, or units can be tested and serviced by MineARC Systems team of technical experts.
